Scott Cassel

A renowned leader in the U.S. product stewardship movement, Scott has over 35 years of experience tackling waste management issues in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He is the founder and CEO of the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI), which brings diverse stakeholders together to research, develop, and implement extended producer responsibility laws.

 

Prior to founding PSI, he served as the director of waste policy and planning for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, where he developed and implemented solid and hazardous waste management policies and programs.

 

Scott has experience with more than 25 product categories, including packaging, and has been actively involved in the recent development of multiple state and federal packaging EPR bills. He has a background in geology and environmental science, as well as facilitation, mediation, and consensus-building.
